Cellulite: what can we do?

Women are prone to have Cellulite.

For 2 main reasons:
  • The vertical distribution of collagen fibres
  • Women have more alpha-adrenergic receptors associated with their fat tissue compared to beta-adrenergic receptors. What we need to know is the “alpha” ones slow down the fat burning process, while the “beta” ones help to burn fat.

Is it possible to get rid of Cellulite?

Not that simple. However, we can reduce it.

How?

  • Eat Real Food (yep, nutrition is paramount). Avoid sugars, any kind of processed foods, take away foods, soft drinks, junk foods (including gluten-free junk foods), alcohol. Lower your intake of grains and fruit, increase your vegetable intake. Eat "clean" when possible, i.e eat organic. Give priority to grass-finished meat, wild fish and pastured eggs. Don't be afraid by organs and animal fats, as long as they come from healthy pastured animals.

Lowering drastically your carbohydrates intake will definitely give you good results; however this should not be a long-term strategy. Every woman is unique and very-low carb approaches do not suit everyone.

  • Cherish your Sleep (get adequate amount of sleep, in a dark room, without any electronic device)
  • Lower Stress Levels: every day, take a moment to breathe deeply and have fun
  • Remodel Fibres: Treat yourself with Deep Tissue Massage. Use a Foam Roller daily
  • Increase Blood Flow: Give yourself a skin brush every day (This technique is called “Dry Body Brushing”). Use the “contrast shower method”: alternate warm and cold water, and finish with cold water ( I love that one! I have been doing it every single day for the last 10 years!)
  • Get a Firm Body. A customized Resistance Training program will help to tighten the connective tissues underneath, in order to reduce the appearance of Cellulite.

Well, what are we waiting for to look good naked?
